Tropical Depression Twelve is now a remnant low and is located over the open waters of the eastern Tropical Atlantic. This remnant low is expected to dissipate later today.

At 11:00 pm last night the tropical disturbance located over the southern Caribbean Sea developed into Tropical Depression Thirteen. The center of Tropical Depression Thirteen is located near latitude 12.1 degrees north and longitude 71.1 degrees west. The depression is moving towards the west near 15 mph or 24 km/m and no longer poses any threat to our region.

An Air Force reconnaissance mission is scheduled to investigate the system this morning, if necessary. Regardless of development, heavy rainfall with localized flooding,
as well as gusty winds are expected over portions of the Windward Islands.

At 5:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Depression Twelve was located near latitude 15.8 degrees north, longitude 31.2 degrees west or about 480 miles or 770 kilometres west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The depression is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h and is expected to remain over the open ocean. Tropical Depression Twelve is expected to dissipate in a couple of days.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A strong tropical wave associated with a broad area of low pressure will cause adverse weather conditions mainly over the southern half of our region from tonight. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft investigated the system this afternoon and found that it does not yet have a closed circulation and the center remains ill defined. However, environmental conditions are likely to become more conducive for development during the next couple of days. The chance of tropical cyclone formation is medium during the next 48 hours while the system is in the vicinity of the Lesser Antilles. The Saint Lucia Met. Services will continue to closely monitor the progress of this system.

The area of low pressure associated with the tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic has become Tropical Depression Twelve. At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Depression Twelve was located near latitude 14.9 degrees north, longitude 30.5 degrees west. The depression is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h and is expected to remain over the open ocean until it is forecast to dissipate by Thursday night.

FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Generally cloudy skies, with scattered moderate to heavy showers, gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms over the Windward Islands. Partly cloudy skies, with a few showers elsewhere.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

An approaching tropical wave located east of the Windward Islands, has a medium chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next two days. This wave is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h and is expected to begin affecting our region tonight. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is currently enroute to investigate this system. The Saint Lucia Met. Services is closely monitoring the progress of this wave.

An area of low pressure associated with another tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 10 mph or 17 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next 2 days.
