At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was located near latitude 16.4 North, longitude 61.1 West or 20 miles or 35 kilometres east-northeast of Guadeloupe. Fiona is moving toward the west near 15 mph or 24 km/h, and this general motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected to continue through early Monday. On this forecast track, the center of Fiona is forecast to move across the Leeward Islands tonight, and move near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico Saturday into Sunday, and approach the Dominican Republic Sunday afternoon. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Some gradual strengthening is forecast during the next day or so.

A tropical wave located over the central tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This wave has a low chance of tropical cyclone development during the next five days.

At 9:00 pm last night, Tropical Depression Seven strengthened into the 6^th Tropical storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season, Tropical Storm Fiona.  At 5:00 am, the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was located near latitude 16.6 North, longitude 53.0 West. Fiona is moving toward the west near 13 mph or 20 km/h, and this general motion is expected to continue during the next few days. On the forecast track, the center of the storm is forecast to move through the Leeward Islands late Friday and Friday night, and be near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend.  Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next few days.

At 5 pm today, the center of Tropical Depression Seven was located near latitude 16.8 North, longitude 50.5 West or 745 miles or 1200 km east of the Leeward Islands. The depression is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue during the next few days.  On the forecast track, the center of the system is forecast to move through the Leeward Islands late Friday, and be near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend. A broad area of low pressure associated with a strong tropical wave is located about 800 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and is moving westward near 14 mph or 22 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next two days and is expected to affect the Leeward and northern Windward Islands over the weekend. Interests in the Leeward and northern Windward Islands are advised to monitoring the progress of this system.
