At 5:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Storm Margot was located near latitude 17.4 North, longitude 30.8 West. Margot is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph or 26 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue over the next few days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is expected during the next few days, and Margot is expected to become a hurricane over the weekend. Margot is expected to remain over the ocean and poses no threat to our region.

Fair to partly cloudy skies with a few scattered showers. An increase in cloudiness with showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms is expected over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands from late tonight into tomorrow.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Light easterly winds will continue across the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours. Moisture and instability associated with Hurricane Lee will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the northern portion of the region from late tonight into tomorrow.

At 11:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Lee was located near latitude 16.4 North, longitude 50.0 West or about 870 miles or 1405 kilometres east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Lee is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph or 24 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through Friday. Maximum sustained winds have quickly increased to near 105 mph or 165 km/h, with higher gusts. Rapid intensification is expected today and tonight. Lee will likely become a major hurricane later today. Interests in the northern Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of Lee.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is expected during the next several days, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm later today or tonight.
