Light easterly winds will continue across the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours. Moisture and instability associated with Hurricane Lee will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the northern portion of the region from late tonight into tomorrow.

At 11:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Lee was located near latitude 16.4 North, longitude 50.0 West or about 870 miles or 1405 kilometres east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Lee is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph or 24 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through Friday. Maximum sustained winds have quickly increased to near 105 mph or 165 km/h, with higher gusts. Rapid intensification is expected today and tonight. Lee will likely become a major hurricane later today. Interests in the northern Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of Lee.
