TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Moisture and
instability trailing Hurricane Teddy is expected to produce some scattered showers
and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles during the next 24
hours.
...Hurricane Teddy...
At 5:00 am today, the center of Hurricane Teddy was located near
latitude 24.9 degrees north, longitude 58.2 degrees west or about 650 miles or 1045
kilometers southeast of Bermuda. Teddy is moving toward the northwest near 14
mph or 22 km/h and this motion is expected to continue today. A turn to the
north is likely on Sunday. Maximum sustained winds are near
125 mph or 205 km/h with higher gusts. A tropical storm warning has been issued
for the island of Bermuda.
Hurricane Teddy does not pose a direct threat to
our region, however swells generated by this system will continue to affect the
Lesser Antilles into the weekend.
…Tropical Storm Wilfred…
At 5:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Storm
Wilfred was located over the central tropical Atlantic near latitude 13.1 degrees
north, longitude 36.9 degrees west. Wilfred is moving toward the west-northwest
near 17 mph or 28 km/h and this general motion is expected for the next few
days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h with higher gusts. Small
fluctuations in intensity are possible over the weekend. Weakening should begin
by late Sunday and Wilfred will become a remnant low in a few days.
Tropical Storm
Wilfred is not expected to pose a threat to our region.
A tropical wave is located near the West Coast of
Africa and will move westward over the far eastern Atlantic during the next few
days. Development of this system, if any, will be slow to occur during the next
few days
