A light wind regime is expected across the Lesser Antilles, during the next few days. As a result, warm weather conditions are expected over the islands during that period.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Kirk was located near latitude 13.6 north, longitude 35.7 west. Kirk is moving toward the west near 12 mph or 19 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h, with higher gusts.

Kirk is likely to become a hurricane tomorrow and a major hurricane by Wednesday. Tropical Storm Kirk does not pose a threat to our region at this time.

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with a tropical wave over the eastern Tropical Atlantic continue to increase. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next several days, as it moves slowly westward over the eastern Tropical Atlantic.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Kirk is likely to become a hurricane tomorrow and a major hurricane by Wednesday. Tropical Storm Kirk does not pose a threat to our region at this time.

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with a tropical wave have increased over the past few hours. This wave is currently located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic. At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Joyce was located near latitude 22.1 north, longitude 49.7 west. Joyce is moving toward the west near 2 mph or 4 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast and Joyce is likely to become a post-tropical remnant low later today and dissipate by Wednesday. Joyce is not expected to pose a threat to our region.  

Tropical Depression Twelve forms over the central Tropical Atlantic. At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Twelve was located near latitude 14.0 north, longitude 34.1 west. The depression is moving toward the west near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts.

Steady strengthening is forecast, and the depression is likely to

become a hurricane by Tuesday night or Wednesday. This system does not pose a threat to our region at this time. A tropical wave located near the coast of western Africa is currently producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity.  Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next several days, while it moves slowly westward over the eastern Tropical Atlantic.

A broad and elongated area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave, is producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. This system is moving westward near 8 mph or 13 km/h and has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next 7 days.

Another tropical wave located near the coast of western Africa is currently producing limited shower activity.  Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next several days while it moves slowly westward over the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Joyce was located near latitude 18.6 north, longitude 44.0 west. Maximum sustained winds are now near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Joyce is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h and a west-northwest to northwest motion is expected during the next couple of days. Joyce is expected to remain over the open waters of the Atlantic and poses no threat to our region at this time.  

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.
