…KIRK WEAKENS SLIGHTLY…

At 11:00 am today, the center of Hurricane Kirk was located near latitude 23.0 north, longitude 48.9 west. Kirk is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue today. Maximum sustained winds are near 140 mph or 220 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast to begin tomorrow and continue through early next week. Swells generated by Kirk are expected to reach portions of the Leeward Islands today.

…LESLIE STRENGTHENS A LITTLE MORE…

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Leslie was located near latitude 10.0 north, longitude 30.0 west. Leslie is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph or 11 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph or 100 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Leslie is expected to become a hurricane tonight or tomorrow. Leslie does not pose a threat to our region at this time.
