FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Fair to partly cloudy with a few showers over the Leeward Islands. Over the Windward Islands and areas further south, partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with some scattered showers which may be heavy in some locations, and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A light wind regime will persist across the Lesser Antilles, for the next few days. Moisture and instability over the southern half of the region, will cause scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over that area, during the next 24 hours.

Major Hurricane Kirk continues its northward movement away from our region. However, swells generated by Kirk will continue to affect portions of the Leeward Islands during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 11.6 north, longitude 36.0 west. Leslie is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph or 130 km/h, with higher gusts. A gradual weakening trend is forecast to begin on Sunday. Leslie does not pose a threat to our region at this time.

A tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h.
