TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
The Atlantic High-Pressure System will maintain light to moderate easterly winds across the Eastern Caribbean, over the next couple of days. Low level clouds drifting with the wind flow, will cause a few showers across the islands during the forecast period.
A plume of Saharan dust haze is expected to cause a reduction in visibility and air quality across the region during the next few days.
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Erin was located near latitude 17.4 North, longitude 34.3 West or about 1762 miles east-northeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast and Erin could become a hurricane later this week. Erin is moving toward the west near 22 mph or 35 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue for the next several days.
