At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Rene was located over the central tropical Atlantic near latitude 20.3 degrees north and longitude 39.9 degrees west. Rene is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 75 km/h.

Neither of these two systems are expected to pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.

A tropical wave located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. A tropical depression is expected to form within the next few days. There is a high chance of this system developing into a tropical storm within the next five days.

Another large area of disturbed weather associated with a tropical wave is beginning to move off the west coast of Africa.  Environmental conditions appear conducive for development during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form over the far eastern tropical Atlantic early next week while the system moves slowly westward. 

The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor and provide updates on the progress of these system.

Neither of these two systems are expected to pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.

A tropical wave located over the far eastern tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 14 mph or 22 km/h. A tropical depression is expected to form within the next few days. There is a high chance of this system developing into a tropical storm within the next five days.

Rene is moving toward the west near 16 mph or 26 km/h and a motion toward the west-northwestis expected over the next couple of days, followed by a turn toward the northwest.Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h), with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast and Rene is expected to become a hurricane in a couple of days.

On their current trajectories, both systems are forecast to remain away from the Lesser Antilles. The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor the progress of these systems.

Paulette is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph or 9 km/h. A turn toward the west-northwest or west with a slight increase in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph or 100 km/h, with higher gusts. Further strengthening is forecast today and Paulette could become a hurricane by tonight. Gradual weakening is expected by late Wednesday.

Rene is moving toward the west near 16 mph or 26 km/h and a motion toward the west to west-northwest is expected over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.  Little change in strength is expected today, followed by gradual strengthening on Thursday and Friday. Rene is forecast to become a hurricane in a couple of days.
