Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast and Joyce is likely to become a post-tropical remnant low later today and dissipate by Wednesday. Joyce is not expected to pose a threat to our region.  

Tropical Depression Twelve forms over the central Tropical Atlantic. At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Twelve was located near latitude 14.0 north, longitude 34.1 west. The depression is moving toward the west near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts.

Steady strengthening is forecast, and the depression is likely to

become a hurricane by Tuesday night or Wednesday. This system does not pose a threat to our region at this time. A tropical wave located near the coast of western Africa is currently producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity.  Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next several days, while it moves slowly westward over the eastern Tropical Atlantic.

A tropical wave located near the coast of western Africa is currently producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity.  Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next several days, while it moves slowly westward over the eastern Tropical Atlantic.
