Moist and unstable conditions over the northern portion of the Eastern Caribbean will cause cloudiness, showers and possibly thunderstorms over the Leeward Islands today.

A fast moving tropical wave, ahead of Tropical Storm Gonzalo, will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Eastern Caribbean region from tonight into Friday.

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 9.6 degrees north, longitude 48.3 degrees west or about 910 miles or 1465 kilometres east-southeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph or 100 km/h with higher gusts.

Gonzalo is moving toward the west near 14 mph or 22 km/h and is projected to move across the southern Windward Islands by Saturday evening.

Residents and interests in Saint Lucia and the Windward Islands are advised to closely monitor the progress of this system.

A fast moving tropical wave just east of the Lesser Antilles, ahead of Tropical Storm Gonzalo, will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Eastern Caribbean region from tonight into Friday.
At 5:00 am today, Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 10.0 degrees north, longitude 47.0 degrees west or about 970 miles or 1565 kilometres east southeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph or 100 km/h with higher gusts. Further strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gonzalo is expected to become a hurricane later today.
The storm is moving toward the west near 12 mph or 19 km/h and is projected to approach the Windward Islands late Friday and Saturday.
Residents and interests in the Windward Islands are advised to closely monitor the progress of this system.

A tropical wave accompanied by a trade wind surge located just east of the Lesser Antilles ahead of Tropical Storm GONZALO, will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the Eastern Caribbean from late Thursday into Friday.

At 5:00 pm today, Tropical storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 9.9 degrees north, longitude 45.0 degrees west or about 1103 miles or 1776 kilometers east southeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gonzalo is expected to become a hurricane by tomorrow. The storm is moving toward the west near 14 mph or 22 km/h and is projected to move across the southern Windward Islands on Saturday.

A weak tropical wave located over the Lesser Antilles, is moving westward near 14 mph or 23 km/h. This wave will cause a few cloudy periods with showers to develop over the Eastern Caribbean as it gradually moves away from the islands during the next 24 hours.

Another weak tropical wave located just east of the Lesser Antilles ahead of Tropical Storm GONZALO will be approaching the islands by tomorrow Thursday producing scattered showers and possibly thunderstorms.

At 8:50 am today, Tropical Depression Seven was upgraded to Tropical Storm Gonzalo. At 11:00 am, Tropical storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 9.9 degrees north, longitude 43.6 degrees west or about 1196 miles or 1926 kilometers east southeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gonzalo is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday.

The storm is moving toward the west at 14 mph or 22 km/h. It is projected to move across the southern Windward Islands on Saturday.

Residents and interests in the Windward Islands are advised to closely monitor the progress of this system.

the next couple of days and the depression is expected to become a tropical
 storm later today.

At 5:00 pm today, Tropical Depression Seven formed east of the Southern Windward Islands. The center of Tropical depression Seven is located near latitude 9.8 north, longitude 40.4 west or about 1420 miles 2285 kilometers east southeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum Sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h. Further strengthening is expected and a tropical storm may form tonight or Wednesday. On its current track this cyclone will cross the southern Windward Islands on Saturday. Residents and interests in the Windward Islands are advised to closely monitor the progress of this system.

Another tropical wave has just emerged off the West African coast and it is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h.

A tropical wave located over the central tropical Atlantic that was previously associated with a low pressure system has moved ahead of the low and continues westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This wave is expected to affect the Eastern Caribbean region by Friday.

Meanwhile the low pressure system, has become better organized and could form a tropical depression later today. The Saint Lucia Met Services is closely monitoring the progress of this system.
