Moist and unstable conditions associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Gonzalo will cause cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms over the southern Windward Islands.
At 5:00 pm today, the remnants of Tropical Storm Gonzalo were located near latitude 11.0 North, longitude 63.0 West. The remnants of Gonzalo are forecast to move generally westward across the southern Caribbean for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h with higher gusts. Gusty conditions associated with squalls will be possible as the remnants of Gonzalo move westward.

A tropical wave about 700 miles east of the Lesser Antilles is moving westward at about 21 mph or 33 km/h. This wave is expected to begin affecting the Eastern Caribbean islands tomorrow afternoon.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected before Gonzalo reaches the southern Windward Islands, later today. Weakening is expected after Gonzalo moves over the Eastern Caribbean Sea and this system is forecast to dissipate by Sunday night.

At 5:00 am today the center of Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 10.0 degrees north, longitude 51.8 degrees west, about 670 miles or 1000 kilometers east southeast of Saint Lucia.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h.  Some strengthening is forecast during the next day or two, and there is still a chance that Gonzalo could become a hurricane before reaching the Windward Islands.

Tropical Storm Gonzalo is moving towards the west at 14 mph or 22 km/h. A westward to west-northwestward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through the weekend. On this track the center of Gonzalo is expected to pass near Saint Lucia on Saturday.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moist and unstable conditions over the northern portion of the Eastern Caribbean will cause cloudiness, showers and possibly thunderstorms over the Leeward Islands today.

A fast moving tropical wave, ahead of Tropical Storm Gonzalo, will cause some cloudy periods with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Eastern Caribbean region from tonight into Friday.

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 9.6 degrees north, longitude 48.3 degrees west or about 910 miles or 1465 kilometres east-southeast of Saint Lucia. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph or 100 km/h with higher gusts.

Gonzalo is moving toward the west near 14 mph or 22 km/h and is projected to move across the southern Windward Islands by Saturday evening.

Residents and interests in Saint Lucia and the Windward Islands are advised to closely monitor the progress of this system.

A tropical wave located over the Eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h.
