Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast and Joyce is expected to be a remnant low by early Tuesday. Joyce poses no threat to our region at this time.   A broad and elongated area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave, is producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity west of the Cabo Verde Islands.

This system is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h and a turn towards the northwest later. The system has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next 7 days.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Joyce was located near latitude 18.6 north, longitude 44.0 west. Maximum sustained winds are now near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Joyce is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h and a west-northwest to northwest motion is expected during the next couple of days. Joyce is expected to remain over the open waters of the Atlantic and poses no threat to our region at this time.  

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.

Joyce is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue through Sunday. Joyce is expected to remain over the open waters of the Atlantic and poses no threat to our region at this time.
