FORECAST FOR SAINT LUCIA VALID FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS

Winds will be blowing from between the southwest and southeast near 18 mph or 30 km/h, with occasional gusts.

Weather: Overcast to generally cloudy with scattered moderate to heavy showers and a few thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight. Weather conditions are expected to improve from tomorrow morning.

Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides are advised to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution.

Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to continue to exercise extreme caution due to rough seas, swells and gusty winds generated by Tropical Storm Dorian.

FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Overcast to generally cloudy with moderate to heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms over the Leeward and most of the windward Islands. Over Trinidad and Tobago, it will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a few showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Tropical Storm Dorian will continue to generate cloudiness, showers, thunderstorms and rough seas around most of the Eastern Caribbean Islands during the next 24 hours.

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Dorian was located near latitude 14.2 north, longitude 61.8 west, about 60 miles or 95 kilometers west-northwest of St. Lucia. Dorian is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through tonight, followed by a turn toward the northwest on Wednesday.

On the forecast track, the center of Dorian will move across the northeastern Caribbean Sea during the next few days.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Dorian is forecast to be near hurricane strength when it moves close to Puerto Rico and eastern Hispaniola.

A Tropical Storm warning remains in effect for Martinique. A Tropical storm watch remains in effect for Dominica. The Tropical Storm Warning has been discontinued for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Tropical Storm Watch has been discontinued for Grenada and its dependencies.

Residents and interests in Saint Lucia and the Lesser Antilles are asked to continue to closely monitor the progress of this system and remain vigilant. A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.
