TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Moisture and instability trailing Tropical Storm Karen will continue to cause cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles.
At 11:00 am today the center of Tropical Storm Karen was located near latitude 14.9 north, longitude 64.8 west or about 260 miles or 420 kilometers west-northwest of Saint Lucia. Karen is moving toward the north-northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h, and this general motion is forecast to continue today. A turn toward the north is expected on Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Karen will move across the eastern Caribbean Sea through today, and pass near or over Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands Tuesday morning.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h with higher gusts. Little overall change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Interests elsewhere in the Lesser Antilles should continue to monitor the progress of Karen.

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Lorenzo was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic near latitude 11.1 north, longitude 24.1 west and is moving westward near 18 mph or 30 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph or 65 km/h with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Lorenzo is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday. This system is expected to remain over the open Atlantic Ocean during the next five days.
