Over the Leeward Islands, generally cloudy with showers and isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, partly cloudy skies with a few showers, with a gradual increase in cloudiness and showers towards evening.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A tropical wave will cause occasional cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Windward Islands, from this evening. 

…TROPICAL DEPRESSION THIRTEEN APPROACHING THE LEEWARD ISLANDS…

At 5:00 Am today, the centre of Tropical Depression Thirteen was located near latitude 17.8 North, longitude 58.5 West or about 305 miles or 490 kilometres east of the northern Leeward Islands. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 21 mph or 33 km/h and this motion is expected to continue for the next few days.  On the forecast track, the depression is expected to move north of the northern Leeward Islands by later today.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm by the weekend.

Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for most of the Leeward Islands.

Tropical Depression Thirteen does not pose a direct threat to Saint Lucia and

the rest of the Windward Islands, however, this system will produce scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over these areas, on the weekend.

A tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward at 12 mph or 19 km/h. This wave has a medium chance of further development during the next five days.
