At 11:00 am today, the center of poorly defined Tropical storm Gabrielle was located near latitude 17.5°north, 46.6°west or about 987 miles or 1588 kilometers east northeast of Saint Lucia. Gabrielle is moving toward the north northwest near 22 mph or 35 km/h. A northwest to west-northwestward motion at a reduced foreword speed is expected across the Tropical and subtropical central Atlantic during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. Gabrielle is forecast to remain over open waters for several days..

A tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. Some slow development of this system is possible over the next few days.
