Moist and unstable conditions associated with a tropical wave, will continue to cause showers and thunderstorms mainly over the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles, during the forecast period.
…Tropical Depression forms over the central Tropical Atlantic…
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Seven was located near latitude 13.7°north, 45.9°west or about 1012 miles or 1629 kilometers east of Saint Lucia. The depression is moving toward the west near 13 mph or 20 km/h. A west-northwestward to northwestward motion is expected across the Tropical Atlantic during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast and the system could become a tropical storm later today or tonight. Residents of the Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of the depression.
A tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. Some slow development of this system is possible over the next few days.
