TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
A weak mid to low level trough will produce a few periods of scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Lesser Antilles, during the forecast period.
At 5:00 am today, the center Tropical Storm Gabrielle was located near latitude 21.9° north, longitude 54.8° west or about 595 miles or 960 kilometers east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and 680 miles or 1095 kilometers northeast of Saint Lucia. Gabrielle is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h. Maximum sustained winds remain near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. A gradual turn toward the northwest is forecast by tonight, followed by a north-northwestward motion by Saturday night and northward motion by Sunday night. On the forecast track, the center of Gabrielle is expected to pass east of Bermuda Sunday night and Monday. Gabrielle is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region.
A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.
Another tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h. Some slow development of this system is possible within the next 7 days.
