TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Weak unstable conditions will cause a few showers over the Lesser Antilles, during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Gabrielle was located near latitude 22.4 North, longitude 56.6 West. Gabrielle is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast, and Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday. On the forecast track, Gabrielle will continue to move away from our region and pass east of Bermuda on Sunday night and Monday.

A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h.

Another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.  Some slow development of this system is possible within the next 7 days.
