TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
A surface trough is expected to produce cloudiness, showers and isolated thunder-storms over the Lesser Antilles, during the forecast period.
At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Gabrielle was located near latitude 24.3 North, longitude 58.1 West or about 530 miles or 855 kilometres northeast of the northern Leeward Islands. Gabrielle is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast, and Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday. On the forecast track, Gabrielle will continue to move away from our region and pass east of Bermuda on Sunday night and Monday.
A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 8 mph or 13 km/h.
Another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. Some slow development of this system is possible within the next 7 days.
