The Atlantic high pressure system is expected to build across the region.
Weak unstable conditions will cause a few scattered showers to develop over the islands during the forecast period.
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Nine was located near latitude 23.0 North, longitude 77.2 West or about 275 miles or 440 km northwest of the eastern tip of Cuba. The system is moving towards the north northwest near 7 mph or 11 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. The system is expected to become a tropical storm later today and a hurricane by late Monday or Tuesday. This system is not expected to affect the Lesser Antilles.
At 5:00 pm today, the eye of Hurricane Humberto was located near Latitude 23.9 degrees north, longitude 63.3 degrees west or about 585 miles or 945 kilometres south of Bermuda. Humberto is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 155 mph or 560 km/h, with higher gusts. Humberto is an extremely category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Humbert will likely remain a powerful major hurricane for the next several days.
