Cloudy to overcast skies with moderate to heavy showers and gusty winds over the Leeward Islands and areas further north. Elsewhere, mostly cloudy skies, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Rainbands associated with Tropical cyclone Jerry will begin to affect the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.
Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for Guadeloupe and the Leeward Islands.
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Jerry was located near latitude 15.7 North, longitude 57.7 West or about 218 miles or 403 km northeast of St. Lucia. Jerry is moving toward the west-northwest near 20 mph or 31 km/h. A turn toward the northwest is expected later today, followed by a slightly slower northward motion on Friday and Saturday. On the forecast track, the center of Jerry is expected to pass near or to the northeast of the northern Leeward Islands later today and tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph or 100 km/h with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and Jerry could become a hurricane by late Friday or Saturday.
A tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 23 mph or 37 km/h.
