Partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at times, with some scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms over the southern Windward Islands and areas further south. Elsewhere, fair to partly cloudy and hazy, with a few showers.
Weak unstable conditions associated with a tropical wave and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will cause some showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms mainly over the southern portion of the region, during the next 24 hours.
Saharan dust haze in varying concentrations will impact visibility and air quality over parts of the region, during the forecast period.
At 5:00 pm today, the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 22.2 north, longitude 49.0 west. Leslie is moving towards the northwest near 9 mph or 15 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph or 150 km/h, with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is possible through tonight. Leslie does not pose a threat to our region.
