Moisture and instability in the lower atmosphere around the Eastern Caribbean region will cause some showery periods and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the islands during the next 24 hours.

…Tropical Storm Sebastien forms northeast of the Leeward Islands…

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Sebastien was located near latitude 20.1 North, longitude 58.7 West. Sebastien is moving toward the north-northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h. A turn to the north is expected on Wednesday followed by a turn to the northeast and an increase in forward speed Wednesday night.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible over the next day or so.

Sebastien is forecast to remain over the open Atlantic Ocean and is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region.

A tropical wave located over the central tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 10 mph or 17 km/h.
