TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Unstable conditions together with light winds and high daytime temperatures, will cause a few showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles, during the forecast period.

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Gabrielle was located near latitude 20.3° north, longitude 51.7° west or about 752 miles or 1210 kilometers northeast of Saint Lucia. Gabrielle is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph or 24 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, Gabrielle is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region.

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.

Another tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa by Friday morning.  Some slow development of this system is possible within the next 7 days.
