Moisture and instability associated with the passage of a tropical wave, will continue produce increased periods of cloudiness, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly over the southern portion of our region, during the forecast period.

Another tropical wave associated with a weak low pressure area, is located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic. There a very low chance of further development of this system over the next five days as it moves westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.

At 5:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Larry was located near latitude 14.6 degrees north, longitude 38.9 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph or 150 km/h, with higher gusts. Larry is moving toward the west-northwest near 20 mph or 31 km/h and this motion is expected during the next few days. Larry is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region during the next five days.

At 11:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Larry was located near latitude 13.5 degrees north, longitude 34.2 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph or 130 km/h, with higher gusts. Steady to rapid strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days and Larry is expected to become a major hurricane by Friday night. Larry is moving toward the west near 17 mph or 28 km/h. Larry is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region during the next five days.

A low pressure area associated with another tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic, is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. There is a low or 30 percent chance of tropical cyclone formation over the next five days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph or 120 km/h with higher gusts. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph or 110 km/h with higher gusts. Larry is moving toward the west near 22 mph or 35 km/h and is forecast to become a hurricane tonight, and a major hurricane by Friday. Larry is not expected to pose a direct threat to our region during the next five days.

A weak tropical wave, a few hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles is moving westward at about 15 mph or 24 km/h. This wave is expected to begin affecting the region later today and into tomorrow Thursday.

Another tropical wave located over the central Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.

Tropical Depression Twelve has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Larry.

At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Larry, was located near latitude 12.3 degrees north, longitude 24.8 degrees west. Larry is moving toward the west near 20 mph or 31 km/h.  The system is forecast to become a hurricane by late Thursday or Friday.  At present, Larry remains far east of the Eastern Caribbean region and is expected to linger over open waters of the Atlantic over the next five days.
