The Atlantic High-Pressure System will become the dominant weather feature across the region today producing light to moderate winds and fair skies. However, a tropical wave, currently positioned east of the Lesser Antilles is advancing westward at approximately 17 mph (28 km/h). The wave is expected to bring an increase in moisture and instability which will result in a few periods of cloudiness and showers over parts of the Lesser Antilles from late tonight and tomorrow Tuesday.

Another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h. Gradual development of this wave is possible and a tropical depression could form during the latter part of the week.

At 11:00 am today, the eye of Hurricane Erin was located near latitude 23.1 North, longitude 70.8 West. Erin is moving toward the west-northwest and further away from our region near 10 mph or 17 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 140 mph or 220 km/h, with higher gusts.
