At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Storm Laura was located near latitude 18.0 North, longitude 68.1 West or about 100 miles or 160 kilometres west of Ponce Puerto Rico. Laura is moving toward the west near 18 mph or 30 km/h. On the forecast track, the centre of Laura will move away from Puerto Rico this evening, near or over Hispaniola tonight, near or over Cuba Sunday and Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts. No significant changes in strength are forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical storm Laura does not pose a direct threat to Saint Lucia and the rest of the Windward Islands, however moisture and instability generated by this system will continue to affect these areas during the forecast period.
