 TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Lingering moisture and instability in the wake of a weak tropical wave that crossed over the Eastern Caribbean last night is expected to produce a few scattered showers.The presence of Saharan dust in the vicinity will cause a reduction in visibility. 

Another tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward at about 15 mph or 24 km/h.

...HURRICANE LORENZO WEAKENS A LITTLE BUT REMAINS VERY LARGE...

 At 5:00 am today, the centre of Hurricane Lorenzo was located near latitude 21.4 North, longitude 44.8 West. Lorenzo is moving toward the north-northwest near 10mph or 17 km/h. A turn toward the north is expected today, followed by a turn toward the north-northeast on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are now near 115 mph or 185 km/h with higher gusts. Lorenzo is now a category 3 hurricane.  Gradual weakening is expected during the next few days but Lorenzo is expected to remain a powerful hurricane throughout the weekend.
Lorenzo is a large hurricane.  Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 50 miles or 75 km from the centre. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 290 miles or 465 km. Heavy sea swells generated by Lorenzo will affect the Eastern Caribbean region over this weekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
Hurricane Lorenzo is expected to remain over the Central Atlantic Ocean, well east of the Lesser Antilles during the next five days.
