TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

The Atlantic High pressure system will generate moderate easterly winds around the Eastern Caribbean region for the next couple of days.

 Patches of low level clouds drifting along the wind flow will cause few showers over the region during the next 24 hours.

…DEPRESSION REMAINS JUST BELOW TROPICAL STORM STRENGTH…

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Depression Eleven was located near latitude 12.7 north, longitude 45.7 west or about 1032 miles or 1660 km east southeast of Saint Lucia. The depression is moving toward the west near 15 mph or 24 km/h. A turn toward the west-northwest at a similar forward speed is expected tonight, with this motion continuing through the rest of the week.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today.

The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor the progress of this system.
