Partly cloudy skies, becoming cloudy at times with some scattered showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Low level moisture and instability over our region, will cause some cloudy periods with showers over the islands, during the next 24 hours.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near latitude 17.5 degrees north, longitude 42.4 degrees west or about 1360 miles or 2190 kilometers east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Paulette is moving toward the west-northwest near 3 mph or 6 km/h. A slow motion toward the northwest or north northwest is expected tonight. Paulette is then forecast to move a little faster and generally westward on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 40 mph or 65 km/h, with higher gusts.

Modest strengthening is expected during the next couple of days.

……Depression becomes Tropical Storm Rene…..

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Rene was located

near latitude 16.1 degrees north and longitude 22.3 degrees west. Rene is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h and this motion with some increase in forward speed is expected over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast and Rene could become a hurricane in two or three days.

On their current trajectory both systems are forecast to remain away from the

Lesser Antilles. The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely

monitor the progress of these system.
