At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near latitude 19.2 degrees north, longitude 45.6 degrees west or about 1145 miles or 1845 kilometers east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Paulette is moving toward the west near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h with higher gusts.

At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Rene was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic near latitude 17.4 degrees north and longitude 30.5 degrees west. Rene is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph or 22 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h with higher gusts.

Both of these systems are forecast to remain over the open Atlantic Ocean and are not expected to pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.

A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa tomorrow. This wave has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next five days.
