TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Moisture and instability over the Eastern Caribbean region will cause a few scattered showers over the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours.
…… Tropical Storm Paulette ……
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near
latitude 26.8 degrees north, longitude 56.1 degrees west or about 645 miles or 1040 kilometers southeast of Bermuda. Paulette is moving toward the northwest near 16 mph or 26 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph or 110 km/h with higher gusts.
…… Tropical Storm Rene……
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Rene was located over the central
tropical Atlantic near latitude 22.5 degrees north and longitude 43.5 degrees
west. Rene is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph or 22 km/h. Maximum
sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h.
…… Tropical Depression Nineteen……
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Nineteen was located west southwest of Miami Florida near latitude 25.6 degrees north and longitude 80.7 degrees west. The depression is moving toward the west near 9 mph or 15 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph or 55 km/h.
None of these three systems are expected to pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.
A tropical wave located over the Eastern tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. A tropical depression is expected to form within the next two days. There is also a high chance of this system developing into a tropical storm within the next five days.
Another area of disturbed weather associated with a tropical wave is located in the far Eastern Atlantic. Environmental conditions appear conducive for development during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form early next week while the system moves slowly westward.
The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor and provide updates on the progress of these systems.
