…Tropical Storm Teddy…

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Teddy was located near latitude 12.8 degrees north, longitude 42.8 degrees west or about 1250 miles or 2015 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles.Teddy is moving toward the west near 14 mph or 22 km/h. This general motion is expected to continue today, followed by a west-northwestward turn and slightly slower forward speed over the next couple of days.Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected and Teddy is forecast to become a hurricane by Tuesday night.

…Tropical Storm Vicky forms over the far Eastern Tropical Atlantic…

At 11:00 am today, the center of newly formed Tropical Storm Vicky was located near latitude 18.7 degrees north, longitude 28.5 degrees west. Vicky is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph or 9 km/h and this motion is expected to continue this afternoon. A turn toward the west-northwest is expected from tomorrow and Wednesday.Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected during the next day or so. Gradual weakening is expected by tomorrow night and Vicky is forecast to degenerate into a remnant low by Thursday.

A tropical wave just coming off the African coast, is moving westward near 10 mph or 17 km/h.

The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor and provide updates on the progress of these systems.
