Weak unstable conditions in the lower atmosphere over our region will cause a few
showers to develop over some of the islands, during the next 24 hours.
...Tropical Storm Teddy...
At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Teddy was located near latitude
13.0 degrees north, longitude 44.0 degrees west or about 1170 miles or 1880
kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles. A west-northwestward motion at a slower forward speed is expected tonight through Tuesday night, followed by a northwestward motion Wednesday and Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Steady strengthening is forecast for the next several days, and Teddy is expected to become a hurricane Tuesday and could reach major hurricane strength on Thursday.
…Tropical Storm Vicky is expected to weaken overnight…
At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Vicky was located near latitude 19.3 degrees north, longitude 29.5 degrees west. Vicky is moving toward the northwest near 7 mph or 11 km/h and this motion is expected through early Tuesday, followed by a gradual turn toward the west by Wednesday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is expected and Vicky is forecast to become a remnant low during the next day or two.
A tropical wave is located over the far eastern Atlantic. Environmental conditions appear to be conducive for slow development as the system moves westward at 15 mph or 24 km/h.
