Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the northern Leeward Islands. Elsewhere, generally fair skies with a few brief showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moisture and instability associated with Tropical Storm Peter, will continue to cause cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms mainly over the northern Leeward Islands, during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Storm Peter was located near latitude 20.0 north, longitude 61.8 west or about 150 miles or 240 kilometres northeast of the northern Leeward Islands. Peter is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph or 22 km/h. On the forecast track, the centre of Peter is expected to pass north of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico by Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Interests in the northern Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico should continue to monitor the progress of this system.

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Storm Rose was located near latitude 18.4 north, longitude 34.4 west. Rose is moving toward the northwest near 16 mph or 26 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Rose is expected to remain over the open Atlantic during the next five days.

A tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h.  This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next five days.
