FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Cloudy to overcast at times with scattered showers, which will be heavy in some locations, and isolated thunderstorms over the Leeward and northern Windward Islands. Further south, fair skies becoming cloudy at times with a few scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Moist and unstable conditions ahead of Tropical Storm Fiona will continue to cause cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms over the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was located near latitude 16.3 North, longitude 55.4 West or 425 miles or 685 kilometres east of the Leeward Islands. Fiona is moving toward the west near 14 mph or 22 km/h, and this general motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected to continue through late Saturday.  On the forecast track, the center of Fiona is forecast to move through the Leeward Islands late Friday and early Saturday, and move near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico late Saturday into Sunday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph or 95 km/h with higher gusts. Little strengthening is forecast during the next few days. Tropical storm watches and warnings have been issued for the Leeward Islands.

Two tropical waves located over the central and far eastern tropical Atlantic are moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h.
