TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
A strong tropical wave associated with a broad area of low pressure will continue to produce a large area of showers and thunderstorms mainly over the southern half of our region during the forecast period. Satellite-derived wind data and radar images indicate that this system does not yet have a well-defined circulation center. However, environmental conditions are likely to become more conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form over the next several days, if the system remains over open waters. An Air Force reconnaissance mission is scheduled to investigate the system this morning, if necessary. Regardless of development, heavy rainfall with localized flooding,
as well as gusty winds are expected over portions of the Windward Islands.

The Saint Lucia Met. Services will continue to closely monitor the progress of this system.

At 5:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Depression Twelve was located near latitude 15.8 degrees north, longitude 31.2 degrees west or about 480 miles or 770 kilometres west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The depression is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h and is expected to remain over the open ocean. Tropical Depression Twelve is expected to dissipate in a couple of days.
