TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Weak unstable conditions in the lower atmosphere over the Eastern Caribbean region, will cause a few showery periods over the islands during the forecast period.

A tropical wave located over the western Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. This wave is expected to affect our region from late tomorrow into Wednesday.

…..Tropical Depression Three has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Bret…..

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Storm Bret was located near Latitude 11.3 degrees north, Longitude 42.2 degrees west. Bret is moving toward the west near near 21 mph or 33 km/h and this motion is expected to continue for the next several days. On this forecast track, the system should be approaching the Lesser Antilles late this week. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph or 65 km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast and Bret could become a hurricane in a couple of days. Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of this system.

Another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h. This system has a medium chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next seven days.
