Weather: Today Partly cloudy and hazy becoming cloudy at times with some scattered showers. Tomorrow an increase in showers and thunderstorm can be expected with the approaching Tropical Storm Bret.

Tropical storm conditions will be possible and seas will be locally rough with waves 6 to 9 feet of 1.8 to 2.7 meters.

Small craft around Saint Lucia are strongly advised to remain in port and secure property. Residents are also advised to stay away from beaches and coastal areas.

FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies with some scattered showers over the region. Cloudy skies with gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected over the central Windward Islands with the approach of Tropical Storm Bret from tomorrow.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

.....Trpoical Storm warning issued for Saint Lucia.....

At 11:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Storm Bret was located near Latitude 13.0 degrees north, Longitude 52.5 degrees west or about 537 miles or 864 kilometers east of St Lucia. Bret is moving toward the west near 14 mph or 22 km/h and this motion is expected to continue for the next several days. On the forecast track, the center of Bret is expected to approach Saint Lucia and the Lesser Antilles on Thursday, move across the Lesser Antilles late Thursday and Thursday night, and then move westward across the eastern and central Caribbean Sea Friday and Saturday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h, with higher gusts. Some additional increase in strength is possible before Bret reaches the Caribbean sea. Interests in Saint Lucia and the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of this system.

Another tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 13 mph or 20 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next couple of days.
