TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Gert is weaker and could dissipate or become post tropical at any time.
At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Depression Gert was located near latitude 17.1 North, longitude 57.5 West or about 375 miles or 605 kilometres east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Moisture and instability associated with Tropical Depression Gert is expected to affect the Leeward Islands during the forecast period.

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Storm Franklin was located near latitude 14.3 North, Longitude 70.1 west or about 290 miles or 465 kilometres south of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Franklin is expected to continue moving slowly on a westward track near 5 mph or 7 km/h. A sharp turn to the north is expected on Tuesday with this general motion continuing into Wednesday. On the forecast track, the centre of Franklin is forecast to reach the southern coast of Hispaniola by early on Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast before Franklin reaches Hispaniola.

A tropical wave located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving west northwestward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. This system has a high chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next seven days.
