Overcast with moderate to heavy showers, frequent thunderstorms and tropical storm force winds over the Leeward Islands. Further south, generally cloudy with scattered light to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Tropical Storm Philippe will continue to impact the Leeward Islands during the next 24 hours. Moisture and instability associated with this system, will continue to cause scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the remainder of the Lesser Antilles during the forecast period.

At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Philippe was located near latitude 18.5 degrees North, longitude 62.9 degrees West or about 25 miles or 40 kilometers east-northeast of Anguilla. Philippe is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph or 13 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts. On the forecast track, the center of Philippe is expected to pass north of the Leeward Islands today.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Anguilla and Antigua and Barbuda.  Interests elsewhere in the Leeward Islands should continue to monitor the progress of this system.

A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h.

Another tropical wave located over the far eastern Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.
