FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Over the northern Leeward Islands, generally cloudy with scattered showers, which may be heavy in some locations and isolated thunderstorms. Further south, fair to partly cloudy skies, with widely scattered showers.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

Rain bands associated with Hurricane Tammy will continue to cause cloudiness, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the northern Leeward Islands, during the forecast period.

Moist and unstable conditions in the atmosphere will cause occasional cloudiness, scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms, over the central and southern portions of the region during the next 24 hours. 

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Hurricane Tammy was located near latitude 22.3 degrees north, longitude 63.6 degrees west. Tammy is moving toward the north-northeast near 7 mph or 11 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph or 120 km/h, with higher gusts. Swells generated by Tammy will continue to affect portions of the Leeward Islands during the next two days.        

A surface trough located a few hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles is expected to affect our region by tomorrow.
