TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
Moisture and instability left in the wake of Tropical Storm Dorian will continue to generate cloudiness, showers and possibly thunderstorms over most of the Eastern Caribbean Islands during the next 24 hours.
At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Dorian was located near latitude 16.8 north, longitude 63.9 west or about 85 miles or 140 kilometers southeast of St. Croix. Dorian is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue during the next few days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is expected today and Dorian is forecast to be near hurricane strength when it approaches the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
A tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h.
