…KIRK CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN…
At 11:00 am today, the center of Hurricane Kirk was located near latitude 20.4 north, longitude 45.9 west. Kirk is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph or 17 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 125 mph or 205 km/h, with higher gusts. Kirk is now a category 3 hurricane and additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so. Swells generated by Kirk are expected to reach portions of the Leeward Islands on Friday.


…LESLIE IS A LITTLE STRONGER…
At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Leslie was located near latitude 10.1 north, longitude 30.8 west. Leslie is moving toward the west near 5 mph or 7 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph or 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Strengthening is anticipated, and Leslie is forecast to become a hurricane in a couple of days. Leslie does not pose a threat to our region at this time.
