A light wind regime will persist across the Lesser Antilles, for the next few days. Weak unstable conditions and strong daytime heating will result in a few localized heavy showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the islands, during the forecast period.

…KIRK WEAKENS SLIGHTLY…

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Hurricane Kirk was located near latitude 23.7 north, longitude 49.4 west. Kirk is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue today. Maximum sustained winds are near 130 mph or 215 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast to begin tomorrow and continue through early next week. Swells generated by Kirk are expected to reach portions of the Leeward Islands today.

…LESLIE STRENGTHENS A LITTLE MORE…

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Leslie was located near latitude 10.3 north, longitude 33.6 west. Leslie is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph or 11 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph or 110 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Leslie is expected to become a hurricane tonight or tomorrow. Leslie does not pose a threat to our region at this time.
