Moisture and instability over the northern and extreme southern portions of the Lesser Antilles will cause a few scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over these islands during the next 24 hours.

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near latitude 21.5 degrees north, longitude 49.1 degrees west or about 935 miles or 1510 kilometers east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. Paulette is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph or 17 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts.

…… Tropical Storm Rene……

At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Rene was located over the central tropical Atlantic near latitude 18.6 degrees north and longitude 35.8 degrees west. Rene is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph or 19 km/h. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph or 85 km/h with higher gusts.

Neither of these two systems are expected to pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.

A tropical wave located just off the west coast of Africa is moving westward near 15 mph or 24 km/h. This wave has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next five days.

The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor and provide updates on the progress of these systems.
