At 5:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near latitude 20.9 degrees north, longitude 49.0 degrees west or about 935 miles or 1505 kilometers east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. Paulette is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph or 17 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph or 95 km/h with higher gusts.

…… Tropical Storm Rene……

At 5:00 pm today, the center of Tropical Storm Rene was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic near latitude 18.2 degrees north and longitude 34.8 degrees west. Rene is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph or 20 km/h. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph or 65 km/h with higher gusts.

Both of these systems are forecast to remain over the open Atlantic Ocean and are not expected to pose a direct threat to the Lesser Antilles.

A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa later today. This wave has a high chance of tropical cyclone development during the next five days. The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor and provide updates on the progress of these systems.
