TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

The Atlantic High Pressure System will cause generally fair conditions over the Eastern Caribbean region during the next 24 hours.

At 5:00 pm today, the centre of Tropical Storm Elsa was located near latitude 17.5 degrees north, longitude 73.9 degrees west or about 130 miles or 210 kilometres southwest of Port Au Prince, Haiti. Elsa is moving toward the west-northwest near 28 mph or 46 km/h and is expected to affect portions of the Greater Antilles and the eastern United States during the next five days.

Two tropical waves located over the central and eastern tropical Atlantic are moving westward near 12 mph or 19 km/h.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the tropical Atlantic during the next five days.

The alert level at the La Soufriere volcano in Saint Vincent remains at Orange. Interests in Saint Lucia and the south-eastern Caribbean region are advised to continue monitoring official sources for updates.
